For One More Day

For One More Day

Two people came to my mind at once and those are my grandmother's. These two women were so important to me throughout my life. In October of 1994, my gramma Chona came to stay a few days with me. I remember asking her how she felt about losing her loved ones. She said she knew she would see them, but she missed them. I asked her if she was afraid to die and she said no. She said she was ready and that she missed my grandfather so much and then she began to weep. Grandpa had been gone almost 5 years. She did have peace knowing he was in Heaven with Jesus and that she would be with him there too someday. I agreed with her and gave her a hug.

I remember talking to her to visit my gramma Louisa. I can still remember the two of them sitting on the couch talking, sharing the past and present of their lives. It was funny to hear them call each other Senora Sandoval and Senora Juarez. Senora means Mrs. I know they spent time talking about how they missed their husbands, my grandfathers who had passed away.

A few months later my gramma Chona died unexpectedly of blood poisoning. It was really hard to lose her like that but at least I was there when she went to heaven. I made sure I spent more time with my grandma Louisa. Granmma Louisa died in 2001 after a 2nd stroke.

I have both of my grandmas Bibles along with a few other things. I did a scrap page dedicated to them. Until we meet again grammas, I love you! PS, I know grandma it one way to write it, but gramma is more personal to me.

What is your least favorite word? hate
What turns you on? My hubby
What turns you off? rudeness
What sound do you love? Newborn baby's cry

If heaven exists, what would you like to hear
